Many times you will hear of individuals ending their relationships with their parents or other family members because the relationship is considered to be too toxic or unhealthy. Some may understand this extreme action and some may not.
Dr. Dan Gottlieb, FamilyAffaires.com Contributor, Psychologist & Author, explains when he believes it’s healthy to walk away from bad relationships and also when he believes that by doing so is giving up ones power. Relationships are very complicated and of course there is no easy answer.
Dr. Dan explains what happened to one of his patients, a woman who was sexually abused by her father as a young girl and who eventually with Dr. Dan’s help was able to regain her power and later on cared for her dying father.
