When you hear the word Restorative Justice, we would immediately think of a court room or a legal setting. In this video for the FamilyAffaires.com website, Dan discusses with FamilyAffaires.com Co Founder Roseann Vanella how very useful restorative justice can be in mending or restoring our own personal relationships.
Restorative justice involves the process of learning how we have hurt one another and becoming accountable for our actions. Truly understanding the effects that our behaviors had on another person. After all, how can we truly understand the impact our actions have had unless we listen to what the other person has experience? Only then can we understand and then truly grow. Dan also shares how this concept of restorative justice is beginning to gain momentum in our schools across the countries.
Circles of teachers and students are forming to help the students understand the impact of their behaviors on their peers with the help of the teachers and the other students are also learning what that student was experiencing that day when they acted out.
Through this type of restorative justice we hope to make the world a much more peaceful place.
