Several days ago I was in my office when I felt my blood pressure spike. After a couple of minutes it went down but then it went up again.
Although uncomfortable, this is not unusual. This is the way my body reacts to a noxious stimulus that I cannot feel. When this happens, 90% of the time it is about the bladder.
So I called my nurse in and she opened my pants to discover that the catheter was kinked and I was soaking wet
She promptly took me into the bedroom, put me on the lift and got me in bed. Then she took off my pants and cleaned me up. Next was putting on a fresh pair of pants. But when she got them half up, my catheter bag leaked and I was all wet again. So she clean to me and put on a third pair of pants. This time we were successful.
I returned to my office and resumed my work. A few hours later, my nurse came in to ask if I wanted some water. I looked at her and said “you know, I’m having a good day.” She seemed incredulous and asked why. I said “it’s been four hours and I have not Peed in my pants!“
The moral
When you set the bar that low for what brings you gratitude, you will inevitably have a good day.
May you have lots to be grateful for
Elizabeth Kane says
