Letting Our Children Take Flight
Graduation can be a very exciting time for a family, but it can also be a time that is filled with both fear and anxiety for not only the graduate but also the parents. Whether it’s a high school graduation or a college education, both milestones bring about change. It’s a right of passage when we go transition from childhood to adulthood.
FamilyAffaires.com Community Advocate, Roseann Vanella, asks our Contributor, Dr. Dan Gottlieb how parents can help their children take flight and be ok with it. Dr. Dan explains that parents do not have to be OK with it, instead they have to tolerate their fears and anxieties for the love of their children.
Loving doesn’t always mean “being Ok”, it also means fighting through our own insecurities for those we love. Dr. Dan also explains the benefits of failing and how we must let our children fail in order to grow. So many wonderful insights are shared in this interview that will not only help the one who is graduating but also their parents.
FamilyAffaires.com would like to wish all of the 2015 Graduates, much success and joy in their future.
