I rarely endorse books for fear that I will be flooded with authors who also want to be endorsed. But I make an exception here as I have just completed: “Radical Compassion” by Tara Brach. This is a beautifully written book by an author whose kindness and compassion can be found on every page. In it, she describes the RAIN practices in order to cultivate compassion. RAIN is the acronym for:
Recognize an emotion or sensation while it is happening.
Allow the emotion to simply be without trying to fight with it or change it in any way.
Investigate the emotion with a curious mind about what it is and where it is located in the body. And to do so with an open heart.
Nurture that kind person who looks at you in the mirror. That person who may be suffering this very minute.
I hope get the same benefit from this book as I did.

I love Tara’s teachings. I use RAIN with my patients and they find it very beneficial- especially the N for nurture. Thanks Dan for sharing – sending heartfelt appreciation 🙏
