Father’s Day is a day to celebrate our fathers. Whether our fathers are alive, passed, healthy, ill or disabled we all think about our fathers, especially today. Being a father means different things to different people, especially to the fathers themselves.
Often, a man will learn fathering skills from his father or perhaps make the decision to father differently. Today, Roseann Vanella, FamilyAffaires.com Community Advocate & Family Expert, sits down with Contributor, Dr. Dan Gottlieb to find out what being a father means to him.
Dr. Dan became a quadriplegic over 30 years ago, he was a young father of two girls at that time. Learn how his definition of being a father changed quickly after the accident that left him paralyzed. He recalls the early days of being a father and how he thought that being the breadwinner was a big part of fathering and taking care of his family.
After his accident he no longer had an income and went through many changes in his life. Today he shares his story of learning to father differently and the skills and benefits his daughters gained from it. A truly inspiring story.
FamilyAffaires.com wishes all of the fathers a very Happy Father’s Day!!
